MORE THAN FURNITURE: ITEMS FOR BABIES, BICYCLES AND PET SUPPLIES



After a construction period of just a few months the waiting is finally going to be over: at 10 am on Friday, 4 April 2014, at the IKEA site, HOMEPARK SHOPPING Würzburg will be opening its doors to customers for the first time. You can expect to find a varied shopping experience with offers from the areas of furniture, kitchens, items for babies, pet supplies and bicycles. Inter IKEA Centre Germany (IICD) is investing approximately 22 million Euros in the new location, which is situated on the Mainfrankenhöhe. The overall space (gross floor space) of the new retail park will total approximately 20,000 m².


"We are right on schedule with all of our work," explains Rainer Bastians, Managing Director of IICD. All of the leaseholders are now on board as well, including specialist bicycle retailers Lucky Bike, baby products specialists Baby One, pet supplies retailers Kölle Zoo, discount furniture store ROLLER, specialist kitchen retailers MEDA and bedding retailers Dänisches Bettenlager. The day of opening will see great offers and participatory activities being offered to shoppers.


IICD, which is an affiliate company of IKEA, develops specialist retail centres with a wide ranging offer that focuses on the themes of home, living and furniture. Additional specialist retail centres are now open at the IKEA sites in Hamburg-Moorfleet, Oldenburg, Essen, Cologne-Godorf, Hofheim-Wallau, Koblenz, Ulm, Mannheim and Saarlouis. In Lübeck, the first big IKEA shopping centre, LUV SHOPPING, is to open on 16 April 2014.


IKEA Würzburg opened in June 2009 and currently employs a staff of 280. Approximately 100 more jobs are being created at HOMEPARK SHOPPING.
