14 - 06 - 19  Press Release

Lübeck, 19 June 2014

"GLAD MIDSOMMAR" - LUV SHOPPING and IKEA are delighted to invite all fans of Scandinavia to the Midsommar festival in Lübeck-Dänischburg between 10 am and 8 pm on Saturday 21 June 2014. Visitors can expect a colourful programme for young and old on the longest day of the year with a wide variety of activities, music and entertainment.

Two particular attractions are the five metre tall Midsommar tree bedecked with wildflowers and pennants in front of IKEA and the Scandinavian-design Midsommar table in LUV SHOPPING. A marching big band, who will entertain the visitors with a varied music repertoire between 11 am and 6 pm, will ensure high spirits.

For the little ones, there is the opportunity to make floral wreathes, design creative pictures with potato stamps or paint their own colourful Swedish Dala-horse under expert guidance. In addition, all children can have their faces appropriately painted for Midsommar as mythical creatures, wild animals and colourful flowers. There are great prizes to be won on the Wheel of Fortune.

Your creature comforts are equally well provided for: whether you fancy a delicious summer punch, hearty grilled sausages, unusual cocktail creations or light pasta, every taste is catered for at the activity stands. Coffee and cakes can be found in the Niederegger café, the Villeroy & Boch café and Junge Die Bäckerei in LUV SHOPPING as well as in the IKEA restaurant.

"The Midsommar festival is a Scandinavian tradition and is celebrated together with neighbours, friends and relatives. We are thus delighted to be able to celebrate together with IKEA, our visitors and our neighbours here in our new location this year", says Tatiana Prokhorova, Shopping Centre Manager.

"The Midsommar festival is the most important festival in the annual calendar for most Swedes. The longest day of the year is traditionally celebrated on a grand scale, and what would Midsommar be without a bargain at IKEA? Our customers look forward to the astounding Midsommar prices each year", says Karin Reuchlen, IKEA store manager in Lübeck.
